Manuel Solimano was born and raised in Santiago de Chile. He finished his undergrad at the Instituto de Astrofísica UC, where he got interested in extragalactic science. His current research focuses on the properties of dust and molecular gas in distant galaxies, seen at high resolution thanks to the combined power of ALMA and gravitational lensing. Also, he is part of the Arc Tomography Collaboration, a research group trying to understand the kinematics and structure of the gaseous envelopes of galaxies using a new technique. Besides astronomy, he likes outreach, pop music and cooking.
