										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The question that gives rise to this doctoral research is: How do collaborative activities among children unfold in the classroom, and how does this unfolding relate to their sociocultural conditions? To address this question, it is understood that collaboration among children is a complex activity in which learning is generated (Vygotsky, 1987; Piaget, 2008; Rogoff, 1998). Furthermore, it is considered that the way this unfolding occurs is directly related to the sociocultural conditions in which this activity takes place (Rogoff, 1998) and to the interpretive reading and/or reproduction (Corsaro, 2010) that children, individually and collectively, make of those conditions.</p>
<p>Based on this understanding of collaboration, the aim is to shed light on the educational system regarding how to increase and enhance the presence of collaboration among children in school, boost children’s agency in their learning, and promote the development of the learning required for the 21st century, as described by Delors and Mufti (1996): learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together, and learning to be.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In Chile, programs preparing elementary education teachers pose particular challenges as they enroll a large number of students who are insufficiently prepared, undergo curriculum changes, yield unsatisfactory results, and exhibit heterogeneous quality. These factors justify giving special attention to these programs, creating a complex environment for the trainers working in them. Among the group of trainers committed to these programs, science education trainers face specific challenges arising from their field of study.</p>
<p>The teaching of science at both national and international levels has consistently embraced constructivist approaches, calling upon schools and teacher education to infuse their practices with these principles to promote a deep understanding of nature, stimulate curiosity, and enhance creativity in students.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is of enormous importance for citizens to acquire knowledge and skills for written communication, given the potential that writing has to promote learning, its nature as a tool for social action and means of constructing identity, and its application in various work and academic contexts in today&#8217;s knowledge society. In Chile, despite the aforementioned, there is limited evidence regarding the teaching of writing that takes place in our classrooms. In this context, the present research sought to contribute to the study and understanding of writing teaching practices, investigating what school-level teachers teach when they teach writing, how they do it, and why.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The current debate on public education policy in Chile is centered around the concept of education as a social right. This shift in focus has resulted in an increasing rejection of the market-based model that was imposed during the military dictatorship (1973-1990).</p>
<p>President Michelle Bachelet&#8217;s government program (2014-2018) prioritized free and inclusive education, the elimination of profit-seeking in educational institutions, and the strengthening of state-provided education at its core.</p>
<p>For many, including politicians, academics, and students, the goal was to restore the concept of the &#8216;Teaching State,&#8217; which had inspired educational policies in the Republic before the military coup. In recent years, considerable attention has been given to the issues of Chilean higher education from a market perspective, highlighting the influence of neoliberal ideology on educational segregation and the interference of economic interests seeking to profit from the governance and management of higher education institutions.</p>
<p>However, a comprehensive institutional history of Chilean higher education, depicting the evolution and continuity of the system&#8217;s regulations and state policies, considering both the public and private sectors across various constitutional cycles up to the present day, remains unwritten. This thesis aims to fill that gap and provide an institutional perspective on the history of Chilean higher education.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The purpose of this research was to characterize the administrative teams of municipal elementary schools and understand how they are formed, organized, and function to develop pedagogical leadership practices that support the teaching profession. Drawing from a theoretical perspective that delves into the relationship between pedagogical leadership and distributed leadership, the analytical categories that guided the study were generated. This research has implications for educational policies aimed at strengthening school leadership in Chile, which still shows little sensitivity to the indirect and structural aspects that influence the empowerment of administrative teams and the deployment of distributed capacity for pedagogical leadership.</p>
